ORIT Belt Drive Technologies

Space-Saving Innovation. Superior Comfort. Seamless Architecture.

At ORIT, we’re redefining elevator engineering with our state-of-the-art belt drive systems — designed for modern buildings, space-constrained shafts, and premium comfort. Every element of our design is optimized for architectural flexibility, smooth performance, and reliable operation with minimal space requirements.

Compact, Machine-Room-Less Design

All essential drive, control, and safety components are housed within the elevator shaft — eliminating the need for a traditional machine room. This not only reduces the total building height but also:

  • Frees up valuable rooftop space
  • Simplifies architectural planning
  • Allows installation in smaller shafts without compromising performance

Ultra-Compact Motor and Traction Sheave

Our advanced belt drive uses a smaller, gearless motor paired with a compact traction sheave, reducing the space needed for installation by up to 70% compared to traditional systems. Benefits include:

  • Quieter operation with low vibration
  • No need for oil or lubricant, ensuring a cleaner, greener solution
  • Enhanced reliability and less maintenance over the system’s lifespan

Maximum Usable Building Space

ORIT belt systems enable larger cars in standard shafts, thanks to their compact architecture. This means:

  • Higher passenger capacity
  • Wider car widths and optimized door positioning
  • More usable space per square foot of construction

This allows builders to design efficient floor plans and maximize rentable or usable area.

Scalable Modular Cabin System

Tailor your elevator to the shaft — not the other way around. Our flexible cabin system supports:

  • Car widths: 1000 mm to 2000 mm
  • Car depths: 950 mm to 2400 mm
  • Car heights: Up to 2800 mm
  • Adjustable in 50 mm increments for a perfect fit
  • Door widths from 750 mm to 1200 mm and heights up to 2400 mm, adjustable in 100 mm steps

Options include center-opening or telescopic doors, and single or through-entry cabins.

Optimized Headroom & Pit Depth

Our belt-driven elevators require significantly less headroom and pit depth, making them ideal for:

  • Villas and low-rise buildings
  • Retrofits and modernizations
  • Buildings with architectural or regulatory height restrictions

Built-In Inspection & Test Panel

Our control and test panels are integrated into the door frame at the top landing, offering:

  • Quick and safe access for maintenance
  • Reduced space requirement
  • Cleaner installation and minimal on-site modifications

Advanced Groove Belt Technology with Durability Monitoring

At the core of ORIT belt drive elevators is our steel-reinforced polyurethane groove belt — a high-performance alternative to traditional ropes or flat belts. Purpose-built for elevator traction, these groove belts offer:

  • Embedded steel cords for outstanding tensile strength
  • Precision-engineered grooved surfaces for exact alignment with the traction sheave
  • Greater surface contact for maximum grip and load transfer
  • Long-lasting durability with no need for lubrication, ensuring clean, eco-friendly operation

Precision-Grooved Traction Sheave

Our traction sheaves are engineered to perfectly match the groove profile of the belt, delivering:

  • Slippage prevention under all load conditions
  • Exceptionally smooth and quiet performance
  • Reduced wear and extended component lifespan

Belt Durability Monitoring System

To further enhance safety and reliability, ORIT offers an optional belt condition monitoring system, which uses embedded sensors to:

  • Continuously assess belt wear and tension
  • Enable predictive maintenance to prevent unexpected failures
  • Support long-term safety and operational uptime

From Steel Cables to Advanced Groove Belts

Redefining Elevator Mechanics for Modern Architecture

Previously: Steel Cables

Traditional steel cables are rigid and inelastic, requiring large driving pulleys — typically 320 mm or more in diameter — to manage their stiffness and load capacity. This demands a larger motor with heavy drive gears, resulting in bulky systems that consume valuable space and limit architectural possibilities.

Now: ORIT Groove Belts

Our steel-reinforced polyurethane groove belts are engineered for flexibility, strength, and compact integration. These belts operate with a much smaller traction sheave diameter of just 85–100 mm, enabling:

  • A significantly smaller motor footprint
  • Space-saving, machine-room-less configurations
  • Smooth, quiet performance with high efficiency

ORIT’s groove belt system is not only compact — it’s also cleaner, more reliable, and perfectly suited for modern, space-constrained shafts.
